Time for a weight loss update...
Between August 1 and today, Bill has lost 95 lbs. and I have lost 70 lbs. A few observations:
1. Our bed and my shoes (strangely) are getting roomier.
2. You CAN live happily without hamburgers, fries and Taco Bell.
3. There is a lot of tasty (and healthy) food out there. Case in point:
Last night I made the BEST dinner, if I do say so myself. Keep in mind that I only cook food that is fast and easy to prepare. There is no danger of me being whisked away to join the next cast of "Top Chef." Here is what we had with the calorie count:
Chicken-mango-jalapeno sausages from Costco--90 calories each and FABULOULY delicious!
Roasted sweet potato*--80 calories each for half a large sweet potato
Spring greens with low fat balsamic dressing--36 calories
So, even with three sausages, the total is under 400 calories! Just to put it in perspective...an Ultimate Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box has 1010 calories...without the fries!!!! And we won't even talk about the fat grams. Sweet potatoes (if you avoid all the butter and brown sugar) are wonderfully nutritious. I love to eat them this way:
*Peel a large sweet potato and cut into even-sized chunks. Place in a large zip lock bag with 1 Tbsp. olive oil and seasoning (I used Pappy's). Shake to coat evenly. Place on a baking sheet which has been sprayed with Pam and bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes, until tender.
This kind of bragging is the most annoying thing in the world if you need to lose a few pounds and aren't ready. Believe me...I know! Believe me, also, that nothing in the world will work if you aren't ready. It took me 50+ years of eating whatever I wanted before I realized that I didn't want to eat that way anymore. Losing weight is a highly individual decision that no one has the right to second-guess. I am just so grateful that Bill and I got on the same page at the same time. It has actually made this project both easy and fun.
You go girl, and brag all you want you deserve it!! I've lost 60 of my own lbs and it feels great! Keep up the good work.
