St. George in the Springtime

P1040087

We returned last night from a wonderful week in St. George.  Bill actually only got to spend a partial weekend on each end of the visit since he had meetings in Las Vegas, but I was not without a whole host of excellent companions!    I spent Monday helping Sarah to put the finishing touches on their new home.  Monday night, we were joined by Liza and her four kids who drove up from Amarillo with my sister-in-law, Laura Swenson, to spend their spring break with us.  We stayed at my parents' home with a couple of kids each night bunking at the Taylor's.  The weather was gorgeous, and the company was even better!  Here are the highlights, with accompanying slide shows to illustrate:

Monday night we all ate dinner at Pirate Island, a theme restaurant in St. George with lots of arcade games.  Towards the end of the evening, Alvie got his pants soaking wet but, in true pirate fashion, he bravely mustered on.

Tuesday we took a picnic to Cottonwood Cove park, near Mom and Dad's house.  It is the coolest park ever!  Grandma and Grandpa went with us and we had a grand day.

Tuesday afternoon, we drove over to the temple, walked around the grounds, and enjoyed the newly-remodeled visitor's center.  It is VERY nice!

On Wednesday, we drove to Zion's National Park and took a drive through the "great big long tunnel", bought souvenirs at the lodge and hiked the Emerald Pool Trail near the Court of the Patriarchs.  We saw deer, mountain sheep, and cougar paw prints.  I have a couple of blisters to prove that I did the hike, but it was well worth it!  Note to self...next time, pack tennis shoes!

On Thursday, we went out to Gunlock, to Sean's parents' house, where we jumped on the trampoline, rode the four-wheeler, and enjoyed the eight new Great Dane puppies.

Okay...who's joining us next year?

  2. Love the pictures- what a bunch of cuties! It's probably a good thing we weren't there or I am sure we would have come back with a great dane puppy.
