You may be tempted to say "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Well...been there, done that. During my brief sojourn on Facebook it was way too easy for someone to hijack my identity and, posing as me, send out fake messages to my smattering of friends, attempting to spread a virus. It was a mess to clean up so, at the Facebook security people's suggestion, I closed my account.
We had a good run with our little attempt at an online family (and friends) newsletter. I believe that everyone has enjoyed seeing the latest photos of the kids and participating vicariously in each other's many adventures. I know that it has given me a lot of great stories to laugh about, be inspired by and share with others.

Hey Linda, I read you blog all the time and get a kick out of it. I would write more on mine but don't have ths skills you do. Keep blogging!!!
ReplyDeleteYea what happen to Emily? She was the Blog Queen.
Please don't quit blogging. I lurk on a regular basis and love hearing your stories. Thanks for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteI agree- don't quit! A lot of people enjoy reading yourblogs even if they don't have the guts to comment(ie.-me). I would blog more if everyone else kept theirs up too. I just sort of stopped when everyone else got lazy.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot surrender, if you did, I would have no idea what is going on with your family since you are the only one still blogging. Please keep it up! I read it all the time.
ReplyDeleteI concur with the four previous comments...hope you reconsider! I feel like I have gotten to know you better and very much admire your writing and sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is on MySpace because that is where my family started blogging several years ago, but I would have changed over if I had thought it would have mattered. :-<
Another thought...maybe it would be worth blogging (at least every once in a while) because when we are dead and gone, our grandkids might read our blogs and feel like they got to know us!!!
ReplyDeleteAn idea... maybe you could KEEP your blog for your longer "journaling" and then we could ALL join TWITTER!!!??? Twitter is much more practical for busy lifestyles anyway.
ReplyDeleteAll you do is leave a SHORT comment answering the question, "What are you doing?" The site will not allow anyone to "tweet" more than 140 characters a day.
For example, today I twittered, "bought 4 baby chicks that are 3 days old". It took me about 10 seconds! Maybe even Bill and Harry and more men folks would join in???
Pllllleeeeese don't quit. We all read and I personally have written in your honor...check it out.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on losing everyone to Facebook, but feel like I have no room to talk. Dont quit you have too many fans! Is this just a plot to illicit more involvement from some of us less active bloggers. I will seriously consider getting out of my funk and start posting if it means you wont quit. Why are mothers so good at guilt trips, even when they are not trying! I love you and btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the worls best mom and grandma!
ReplyDeleteOh, you can't do it! You have to blog, publish it into a hardbound book (without a dust jacket, of course!) and then keep for your posterity. And, if you want to be super sassy, show your girls how cool a real book is to have and maybe they'll start again. Or not. I enjoy reading your blog because you write well. Plus, I can't get over the church sherpa post. So stinkin' funny and true.

ReplyDeleteAmen to what Sarah said about mom guilt trips. I'll have you know that it's 11:50 at night. I was tucked away in bed reading my favorite blogs on my iPhone (because this seems to be the ONLY time I have to actually read them) when I read this post. I knew I had to get out of bed, come downstairs and login so I could comment (and defend myself).
ReplyDeleteUpdating my blog has been on my to-do list for some time now. Along with cooking my family an actual dinner, doing laundry more than every two weeks and actually spending some quality time with my children.
I think sometimes our greatest blessings are our greatest challenges. My recent success with The Blog Fairy business has been a financial blessing for our family but has taken its toll on me physically, emotionally and socially. You are not my first friend/family member to have sent out an SOS.
Like everyone else I love your blog posts and they always bring a smile to my face after a very long and usually stressful day. I'm sorry I'm such a bad commenter. I will try to be better with that. You know I love you and I PROMISE to update my blog soon. (Part of my problem is that the girls lost my camera and I have been without one since your visit. I just got a replacement).
Hmm...maybe I should stay up a little later and actually update my blog! We did go camping this weekend. Surely that's blogworthy.
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you enjoy the books.
