2 Happy People and 12 Angry Men

Bill/Dad really outdid himself yesterday in celebration of my birthday. He surprised me with tickets to the play, "12 Angry Men," based on the original 1954 teleplay. Richard Thomas played the role originated by Henry Fonda. He is shorter than I imagined. Richard Thomas, not Henry Fonda. George Wendt looks just like he did in "Cheers." The other ten angry men were played by various character actors, most of whom had appeared on "Law and Order," and were vaguely familiar. The play was presented at the Ahmanson Theater at the Music Center in L.A. It had been several years since we had attended a play in L.A. and we both want to do it more often after last night--very enjoyable! Before the play, we had dinner in Valencia at Buca di Beppo, a wonderful family-style Italian restaurant. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very entertaining. The walls are covered with thousands of photos, posters and other campy bits of memorabilia. The decor is like you would imagine an Italian grandmother's living room after she had lived in the house for fifty years. Here are two photos; one of me in front with a waiter that Bill invited into the picture and one of Bill in the indoor waiting area. If you can make out the captions on some of the photos, they are pretty funny. Thank you for all of the lovely birthday gifts and greetings. I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family!!!
In other news, Bill /Dad got the results of his latest blood work-up yesterday. Bishop Davis called him with the good news. His cholesterol and blood sugar are both normal as is his blood pressure. Bishop Davis suggested that when he can get his head around the idea, it might be beneficial to add some exercise to his routine. We love Bishop/Dr. Davis.
Finally, a reunion update. Grandpa and Grandma are going to be able to come for Jake's baptism. They will arrive on Saturday, the day before the baptism, and will leave for home Monday morning when we leave for the cabin. It will be wonderful having them there to share this special occasion. Also, I would like to add an activity. On Tuesday morning, when we leave the cabin for Anaheim, I would like to stop at the Temple Visitors' Center so that those who have not seen the film, "Joseph," can have an opportunity to see it. In checking the Disneyland website, I think we will be there for the new Nemo attraction (the old submarine ride). It is supposed to open in June, hopefully before we get there.
Well, that's all my news for now. I will try to update this blog as newsworthy events occur. Be sure to click on some of my favorite links and check them out.

  2. Great job Mom! Welcome to the world of blogging. Hopefully the rest of our family (Carl, Sarah, Clare, not to name names) will follow suit. I think it's a great way to stay connected. You might need to check your website addresses on your links. When I tried them it didn't work because it put an extra http in the address. You might need to remove those. Or maybe it's just this crazy Mac computer. I'm glad you had a nice birthday. We love you!

P.S. Everyone go check out our blog. I updated it today with the first pictures of baby #3.
